Flex line

flex line - your ticket to the world of batch size 1

Demand for furniture components produced in batch sizes of just one has increased continuously over recent years. Following presentation of the first plants designed for batch size 1 production back at the Ligna 2001, a low-cost cell concept is now about to be unveiled in the form of flex line – an innovation capable of the flexible processing of panel-shaped workpieces cut to precise dimensions and angles in different measurements on a single-sided edge banding machine.

The benefits of flex line for you:

  • Just-in-time-production
  • Average space savings of 25 % (less intermediate storage)
  • Appr. 400-500 batch size 1 workpieces per shift
  • Simple, language-neutral operation using symbols with Quick touch
  • Up to 30 % less capital tie-up
  • Optimum workpiece quality
  • Throughput times almost halved
  • Minimal logistical input

  •
The flex line cell encompasses the following components:

  • Single-sided edge banding machine based on the KAL 310
  • Automatic workpiece guidance
  • Air cushion table
  • Roller conveyor
  • Boomerang return conveyor
  • Cell control by means of input using PC22 and Quick touch

  •
    Processing sequence

The machine is equipped for different edge processing operations.
The set-up process takes place automatically.
Workpieces are fed from the saw ready cut to precise dimensions and angles.
The basic version of flex line requires no external organization on the part of the customer. Processing takes place on one side of the workpiece per pass.
